Welcome to Lenses on the Land

Shelburne Farms is a 1,400-acre working farm, forest, and National Historic Landmark on the shores of Lake Champlain, run as an education nonprofit dedicated to cultivating learning for a more sustainable future through its programs, its land, and the food it grows. Lenses on the Land brings that mission to life through photography, taking participants out onto the Farm's rolling pastures, historic barns and buildings, gardens, and forest so they can slow down, look closely, and get to know the working landscape and the agriculture, ecology, history, and stewardship behind it, season by season.

There's more to it than the photos, though those are certainly a highlight. You'll sharpen your skills through hands-on shoots, learn from and alongside other photographers, and become part of a community that shares a love of the craft and the land it's practiced on. Along the way, the images participants create help tell the Farm's own story, feeding a growing library that supports its outreach and education work. Whether you're working on a specific technique, building out your portfolio, or just looking for a good excuse to get outside with a camera, this program is for you. Most of all, it's meant to be fun.
